(West Palm Beach, FL – January 22, 2011) The Kravis Center successfully hosts the Second Annual Alan Lebow Awards for Excellence in Shakespearean Recitation, created in memory of Kids’ Dreams’ co-founder Alan Lebow, who was known for his love of poetry and especially Shakespeare. There were two top winners of $1,000 each: Brendan Gardner of Boynton Beach High School and Johnson Sinophat of Palm Beach Lakes High School. There were two $500 Honorable Mention awards and six $100 Participant awards.
Prior to the Awards ceremony, the students had access to a coaching session and subsequently performed before a locally distinguished panel of judges. Mr. Gardner and Mr. Sinophat performed their recitations to those in attendance at the awards ceremony. Sheriff Ric Bradshaw handed out the awards.
All participants were treated to that night’s performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Kravis Center. We are looking forward to the Third Annual Alan Lebow Awards for Excellence in Shakespearean Recitation event next year.
